# DubTab > DubTab is a real-time voice translator with AI dubbing. It adds live subtitles and low-latency dubbed audio to anything that plays sound in the browser or on a Windows or Mac desktop: online courses, livestreams, video calls, and local video files. Nothing is uploaded ahead of time and there is no waiting for a processed file. DubTab ships as a Chrome extension (works on any browser tab) and a desktop app for Windows 11 and macOS 14.2+ (works with any app that plays audio, including local files, VLC, Zoom, Discord, Spotify, and Steam). The desktop app captures your whole computer or one chosen application; on macOS it asks only for system-audio recording permission, never screen recording and never the microphone. Both share one account and one usage balance. New accounts get a one-time free trial of 15 minutes. The site is available in 15 languages. Non-English pages live under a locale prefix (for example /es/, /zh-CN/, /ja/); English pages have no prefix. ## Product - [Home](https://dubtab.com/): What DubTab does, how it works, supported platforms, pricing, and FAQ - [Download](https://dubtab.com/download): Installers for the browser extension, Windows 11 and macOS 14.2+ (Apple Silicon and Intel), with requirements, sizes and SHA-256 checksums - [Chrome extension](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/real-time-video-translato/eckchpcahbgbkngandbmcdpdokeoojbf): Install page on the Chrome Web Store - [Windows app on Microsoft Store](https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/xpdccppkgfjxxk): The same Windows 11 desktop app, installed through the Microsoft Store - [Platforms](https://dubtab.com/video-translator): Directory of every platform DubTab works on, in the browser and on desktop ## Use cases - [Online course translator](https://dubtab.com/online-course-translator): Real-time dubbing and subtitles for online courses on any course site that plays in Chrome or Edge on a computer — course platforms, community classrooms, and members areas on a creator's own website — plus AI study notes, mind maps and Q&A for translated lessons. Each exists only in the languages it was written for: an English page is written for English speakers watching with speakers of the target language, and a target-language page (at /es/..., /ru/... or /it/...) is written for those speakers watching English content. - [English to Spanish video translator](https://dubtab.com/video-translator/english-to-spanish): Play any English video with a Spanish AI voice and translated subtitles while it plays, on any site; nothing is uploaded and no file is rendered - [English to Russian video translator](https://dubtab.com/video-translator/english-to-russian): Play any English video with a Russian AI voice and translated subtitles while it plays, on any site, in Chrome or Edge; the Russian twin at /ru/video-translator/english-to-russian also covers how this differs from Yandex Browser's built-in video translation - [English to Italian video translator](https://dubtab.com/video-translator/english-to-italian): Play any English video with an Italian AI voice and translated subtitles while it plays, on any site, in Chrome or Edge; the Italian twin at /it/video-translator/english-to-italian is written for Italian speakers, and both compare this with Chrome's built-in Live Caption translation, which is text only ## Help and how-to Task-based help articles. Translated into all 15 site languages; the URLs below are the English ones, and each has a locale-prefixed twin (e.g. /es/help/choose-a-voice). - [Help Center](https://dubtab.com/help): Index of every help article, by category - [Quick start with the browser extension](https://dubtab.com/help/get-started-extension): Install in Chrome, Edge or Brave, sign in, pick two languages, run a first translation - [Quick start with the desktop app](https://dubtab.com/help/get-started-windows): Install on Windows 11 or macOS 14.2+, choose which audio DubTab listens to, start and stop a session - [Choose between the extension and the desktop app](https://dubtab.com/help/extension-or-windows-app): Which one reaches your audio, a side-by-side comparison, and where things stand on mobile - [Dub and subtitle a video file from your computer](https://dubtab.com/help/local-files): Open an MP4, MKV, MOV, WebM or MP3 file in the desktop app (1.0.7+); dubbing is prepared a little ahead so it stays in sync, prepared parts replay without using minutes, and the file itself is never uploaded (only the sound of the part being prepared is sent for translation) - [No captions or translated audio](https://dubtab.com/help/no-captions-or-audio): Two separate failures - nothing appears at all, or captions appear with no dubbed voice - [Cannot sign in with Google](https://dubtab.com/help/cannot-sign-in): Sign-in goes through Google, so a network that cannot reach Google fails at that step - [Choose a voice and adjust audio](https://dubtab.com/help/choose-a-voice): Pick a dubbing voice per target language and balance it against the original with ducking - [Manage dubbing delay](https://dubtab.com/help/dubbing-delay): Why the dubbed voice lags behind, and the choice between keeping in sync and reading every line - [Customize captions and display modes](https://dubtab.com/help/captions-and-display-modes): Panel, Cinema and Audio only, plus bilingual subtitles - [Save and replay dubbed audio](https://dubtab.com/help/save-dubbed-audio): Keep the translated voice track; the setting is read at Start, not during a session - [View and export transcripts](https://dubtab.com/help/export-transcripts): Every session saves a bilingual transcript you can search, copy and export - [Use AI summaries and Ask AI](https://dubtab.com/help/ai-summaries): Summaries, mind maps and cited answers, paid for with AI credits rather than hours - [Understand translation hours and AI credits](https://dubtab.com/help/translation-hours): How time is counted, why pausing is free, and which balance is spent first - [Manage or cancel your subscription](https://dubtab.com/help/manage-subscription): Open the billing portal from inside DubTab to change plan, update a card, get invoices or cancel - [Team plans](https://dubtab.com/help/team-plan): One shared pool of translation hours and AI credits for a group, with flexible seats ## Updates and support - [Changelog](https://dubtab.com/changelog): Release notes for the extension and the desktop app - [Blog](https://dubtab.com/blog): Product releases, platform notes, and what we learn building real-time translation - [Why real-time dubbing runs a few seconds behind](https://dubtab.com/blog/real-time-dubbing-delay): Where the delay in a live translated voice comes from, why it can grow over a long session, and the trade-off auto catch-up makes between staying close, natural pace and saying every line - [How to turn off YouTube auto-dubbing](https://dubtab.com/blog/turn-off-youtube-auto-dubbing): Every way a viewer can get the original audio back on desktop, the app, mobile web, Shorts and downloads, and how creators turn auto-dubbing off.
